The Foundation

The Black Women Lawyers Foundation of Michigan (BWLFM) is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization, incorporated February 23, 2004. Its core function is to receive and administer funds for charitable purposes, in particular scholarship/educational purposes and is dedicated to community enhancement and development. BWLFM works collectively with the Black Women Lawyers Association of Michigan (BWLAM), to accomplish this endeavor through its charitable sponsorship, support and giving programs for those in need. “BWLFM acts as the fiduciary for other groups that strive to enhance the academic and social growth of youth in the overall community.” The Foundation is headquartered in Detroit, Michigan.
WITHIN THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE BWLFM RESIDES THE SPIRIT OF COMPASSION, CONCERN AND COMMITMENT TO ITS COMMUNITY.

FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS
Financial assistance awarded to students desiring a Law career based on essay submissions
Non-Traditional Student Scholarships:
– Females from historically minority and/or economically or educationally disadvantaged groups 26 years or older.
Youth Scholarships:
-Male or female youth from traditionally underrepresented groups, ages 15-22
Law Student Scholarships:
– Female students from historically minority and/or economically, educationally disadvantaged or underrepresented groups; entering or returning to law school
